Introducing Asian Influence to your Interiors!

Is spring almost here? As we all hope that day light savings time is an indication of warm days to come, I started to think about the fresh, organic and calming elements of Asian interior design. Feng shui is a Chinese philosophical system of harmonizing everyone with the surrounding environment and used quite a bit in interior decorating.  You do not need to do a drastic Feng Shui design of your home to accomplish such decorating benefits. Here the designers introduce the Asian influence through wallpapers, ceilings finishes, beds and fabrics to make any visitor feel they have entered a space in Asia.

My client lived in Asia for many years and upon their move back to the US, wanted to recreate the organic and natural atmosphere of this far away land they were leaving. In this kitchen, the most prominent Asian design can be found in the woven wall paper that surrounds the white washed oak cabinets and appliances. Additionally, the handmade Japanese paper chandelier and various pieces brought back from Asia by the homeowners puts the finishes touches to the Asian surroundings. I envisioned the homeowners cooking an authentic Asian meal in this kitchen every night and reminiscing on their days in Asia.

As you can see, there are multiple ways to incorporate Asian influence in your home! It can be established with traditional colors, patterns, and furniture.
